Watch Out for Ticks

Ticks are a huge bummer and if you’re the outdoorsy type, outside even when temperatures hit the triple digits, you have to be on the look out. There a multiple species of ticks but the most common that find themselves interacting with humans are deer ticks. If bitten by a tick the most common symptoms are fever, chills, aches, pains and rashes. Deer ticks are associated with a circular rash that looks like a bulls-eye (see picture to the right).

Treating tick bites range depending on the severity of the symptom and infection. Many people who get bitten by ticks do not realize it until it is too late and lyme disease has infected their system. Knowing this, please check yourselves and your family members for ticks each night especially after a day in the woods or in other rural, tick-festering settings. Don’t let those nasty little buggers ruin your summer.

¿What are your rates?

ImageUnderstandably, one of the most frequently asked questions for us at Evergreen Health is “What are your rates?” It makes sense that this is the go-to question. When we say that Evergreen Health is selling high quality and low cost insurance, the only inevitable reaction would be to ask for concrete evidence in the price of the rates themselves. Unfortunately the state of Maryland regulates our rate disclosure date and that will not be until the end of August. So go ahead and enjoy the summer (swimming and fishing at Cunningham Falls, visiting the beaches in Annapolis, conch shell-ocean-listening in Ocean City) and continually check back to our website for more updates. They will be out sooner than you know it. Remember that rates also depend on the kind of plan you want (Gold, Silver, or Bronze) and other factors including family size. Image

Welcome to our Blog: An introduction to Evergreen Health Co-op!

Health insurance. It is on everybody’s minds these days. The US can no longer hold a blind-eye to health care. Obama’s Patient Protection Affordable Care Act is just around the corner and we need to be ready to embrace it.

Evergreen Health Co-op is ready to help Maryland.

I’m sure you will have many questions about Evergreen Health. What is Evergreen Health all about? How does it differ from the normal insurance companies that are out there, that already covers me, that is part of my employers insurance (i.e. Aetna, CareFirst, Kaiser)? How do I sign up? This blog is here to answer what we can to the best of our abilities.

The ever-growing staff at Evergreen Health brings innovation to the table everyday. Though we share our office floor with another business group, you can always hear an Evergreen Health’s member laugh in a room down the hallway. The air might be light but the work is cut out for us as we initiate our Reserve A Spot phase and prepare for patient enrollees on October 1st. This is an exciting time in the world of public health and the Evergreen Health blog is here to make health care easier and more efficient from lowering health costs to using telemedicine. Each day brings a new task, meeting, conference, or brown-bag lunch staff presentation. We work in separate departments, but at the end of the day we understand that an insurance carrier can only be successful and progressive if we share our insights with each other and the residents of Maryland.
